ANSI Standard Triple-Strand Roller Chain

The triple-strand roller chain, commonly referred to as a triplex roller chain, consists of three single-strand roller chains manufactured together. The triple-strand roller chain is commonly used in mining, drive, agricultural and heavy-duty equipment processes. Our triple roller chain conforms to ANSI B29.1 guidelines, meaning that it can be universally applied with chains and accessories of other manufacturers that use the same standards.

The distinguishing factor for PEER Chain is that our chains incorporate various manufacturing technologies and techniques to get only the best results for you. Do you intend to use your triple-strand roller chain for light-, moderate- or heavy-duty applications? Our roller chains are built with high-quality materials and high-precision components, so they provide you with the tensile strength and compliance to tackle even your toughest projects. PEER Chains considers strength a crucial feature for its chains. That’s why all triple-strand roller chain components are heat-treated to achieve the maximum strength and durability possible and improve wear resistance and longevity. Our chains also incorporate solid rollers to improve rotation on the bushing and reduce impact loads during operation.

PEER Chains is not only about strength, though. Our chains are also hot-dipped in lubrication to minimize friction during use, extend wear life and cut down maintenance costs. The triple-strand roller chain is also pre-loaded during the manufacturing process to minimize the initial stretch that the chain undergoes when you first make use of it. Whether you are using roller chains in an industrial, farming or assembly line application, you can be confident that your chains will stand the test of time.

In addition to our triple-strand chains, we have sprockets and accessories. C attachments, WK-2 wide contour attachments, DD-3 attachments and K-1 attachments that go with these chains give you even more versatility.

Furthermore, the triple roller chain can come in riveted or cottered construction configurations.

Because the riveted style roller chain uses cylindrical mechanical fasteners that deform the head at either end, it is ideal for most industrial applications. In cases of a sheer shock, in which a load moves perpendicular to the axis of the shaft, a riveted chain is more likely to hold up than a cottered one. While this scenario is not common, it’s good to have that extra protection against breaks if it does happen. The riveted roller chain comes in two different styles: a standard rivet and a quad-stake rivet. The quad-stake rivet has slightly better shock load resistance and just about increases the holding power of the side plates better than the standard rivet.

On the other hand, the cottered-style roller chain uses a pin or wedge inserted into a slot to hold the side plates together. While this method is more likely to give way in a sheer shock, the cottered style is considerably easier to repair. Like the riveted chain, the cottered roller chain also comes in two different styles: a standard cotter configuration and a J-Hook cotter configuration. The standard configuration is used on ANSI and other standard roller chains, like ISO, while the J-Hook cotter configuration is made specifically for API-certified oil field roller chains.
